Five Tips for Selecting Glasses Frames

1. Look for colors that flatter your eyes, hair and skin. “You can’t change the color of your eyes”, says Ron Kehoe, registered dispensing optician and owner of Sacramento’s 2020 EYES. “That’s why it’s one of the major considerations when picking frames.”

2. If the whites of your eyes tend to be yellow or red, stay away from warm tones.

3. Evaluate your facial structure. Glasses accentuate the shape of your face. “If you have a round face, round glasses will make it [look] rounder,” says Kehoe.

4. Consider your wardrobe’s dominant colors. “Certain colors complement each other and will look great. Others clash”, says Kehoe. “Glasses are a major part of your wardrobe.”

5. Glasses have specific functions, whether for working, playing reading, driving, or being in the sun or water. “The way you’re using the glasses determines the coating, the lens and the frame,” explains Kehoe. “Polarized lenses are for sun, for instance. Or you may want progressive [lenses] instead of bifocals.”

Dewey Hopper: Ron Kehoe is with us … You’re going to give us ideas about new glasses … In our sheet, you said something about people having several pairs of shoes, but only one pair of glasses …

Ron: Unfortunately, that’s true. People go out of town … [and] lose the glasses as soon as they get off the plane, and they’re 14 hours from home, and they’re on a 10-day cruise.

Dewey: Glasses have changed so much. I think most people, especially women, [would] look good in that one right there …

Ron: [It's] frame -free … it’s called a drill mount, it’s incredibly flexible.

Dewey: I think that’s a classy look.

Ron: This is a little more out there, to say the least … You can change shapes of the lenses in the glasses that you pick out to make them bigger [or smaller] for your face.

Dewey: You mentioned glasses that you … have special lenses for computers …

Ron: Absolutely … The computer glasses that you’re speaking of are modified … progressive lenses, no-line bifocals … so that you can look … right down and see what you’re reading very clearly … It’s imperative that the portion of the optics be … correct for all specific needs.

I love twenty twenty eyes! I’ve been a customer for 3 years now, and I have 3 pairs of glasses … At first, I was hesitant to get bifocals because I heard they’d be hard to get used to. However,during the fitting,Ron showed me how to read with them and how to look through them to see near and far. … Best eyeglass place in town!: I was referred to Ron years ago and have bought many pairs of glasses from him. He is an expert in the field. He customizes lenses, custom makes glasses and knows the science of adjusting them.

His glasswear selection is awesome. He has pairs of glasses you won’t see anywhere else. Very different and creative frames
